Manchester's Hideaway Club does a Roger Eagle tribute

It's 10 years this month since the passing of Roger Eagle, so to commemorate this date, Manchester's Hideaway Club is offering up its own Roger Eagle tribute.

If you didn't know, Roger Eagle, was DJ at Manchester's Twisted Wheel club (at the original home of Brazennose Street '63 - '65) and later at places like Eric's in Liverpool as the punk scene blossomed. This Saturday sees Eagle-inspired sets from both the Hideaway's resident DJs and guests, which include Roger Fairhurst(Eagle's fellow DJ at the Brazennose St club), Barry Tasker and Stan Evans.

It takes place on Saturday 30th May at the Hideaway, which takes place Upstairs at the Deansgate Pub (next door to the Hilton Hotel Beaton Tower), Deansgate, city centre, Manchester. It runs from 9pm until 2am, £4 admission for members, £5 for guests.

BFI's Midsummer Psych-Out

The Flipside crew at London's BFI have another fine event on the agenda - the Midsummer Psych-Out.

As the name suggests, this is a night of mind-blowing visuals and late 60s tunes, which takes places on Saturday 21st June from 6:20pm. The film program is outlined over the page (taking place in two parts), with the visuals followed by a 'freak out' at no extra charge to the swirling psychedelic sounds of DJs Mariko and Anti-Gravity Man (The Girls in the Garage) in Benugo bar. Tickets are £8.60 each show or a joint ticket is available for £12.50 (concessions £9.25).

Bag an original East German Disco poster

Salvage experts Trainspotters have dug up a real gem from the former East Germany - a batch of colourful posters for a long-forgotten club.

The club was called Disco and the posters were found in a former Kulturhaus. All are unused, said to be 'excellent to mint condition' and are dated to 1976. Details of the designer aren't known.

The remaining stock has been framed and being offered for sale - you can pick up one of the 61cm x 84cm posters for £210.

Dance at Magic Bus - and win a Savile Row suit

If you've not been down to London's Magic Bus so far, here's an added incentive for you. You could win a Savile Row suit.

How? Well, Magic Bus at the Cock Tavern on Friday 13th June will feature special guest DJ William Hunt of Savile Row alongside Eddie Piller, Ivor Jones, Johnny Valatone and Dean Rudland. And there's a dancing competition with the prize of a bespoke Savile Row suit from William Hunt - male or female suit.
