Beautiful Noise – the shoegazer scene get a movie via Kickstarter

Beautiful Noise

Beautiful Noise

The best thing about Kickstarter is that it gives funds to get interesting projects past the finishing line. Hopefully Beautiful Noise will soon join the party.

It’s a movie about the shoegazer scene (for want of a better word). Ok, it wasn’t a scene, more of a mass of bands that were around pre-Britpop, but you get the idea. The doc, directed by Eric Green, focuses on My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, and the Jesus and Mary Chain, but also touches in the likes of Ride, Slowdive, Chapterhouse, Lush, Curve and Swervedriver, with interviews with the likes of Wayne Coyne, Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan and Robert Smith too.

It’ll get made if you pledge some cash. Kickstarter rewards include the film on DVD or Blu-ray, postcards, and posters. If you want to go bigger, $100 gets you in the ‘special thanks’ section of the film’s credits and $5,000 makes you ‘associate producer’, with an invitation to a festival screening. Top of the tree, for £10,000, is an invite to the film’s premiere and the title of executive producer. Classy.

Anyway, the Kickstarter page is here and the trailer is below. Here’s hoping we see it soon.
