The Paperhead – partying like it’s 1967

The Paperhead

The Paperhead

Twitter seems to be the best way of finding decent music recommendations these days. So it’s with that in mind that I thank @beatroute66 and @PiperGatesD for flagging up The Paperhead.

Listen to the album and you’ll be thinking UFO Club London 1967. You will, honest. Possibly with a bit of Revolver-era Beatles thrown in for good measure. It’s that kind of vibe, which is a credit to the production job (by Jeffrey Novak) on the debut album, also called The Paperhead.

Amazingly, this isn’t the work of some grizzled old beardies either. It’s a group of teenagers out of Nashville, Tennessee, which makes the self-titled album all the more amazing.

Don’t take my word for it though, check it out on Spotify. You’ll love it. The band split to go to college, but now seem to be gigging again. If they ever find time for a trip to the UK, find yourself some time to go seem them. A band that will only get better. If you haven’t got Spotify, there’s a track via YouTube also below.

Note that you can pick up a 45 from the excellent Trouble in Mind Records too, as well as a vinyl repress of the band’s first cassette records, which you can buy via Cornershop.

Don’t forget the excellent Sufis too – also from Nashville
