Network DVD reissues The Stones In The Park on Blu-ray

The Stones In The Park

The Stones In The Park

Once a staple of late night TV (alongside Pink Floyd’s Live in Pompeii), The Stones In The Park is getting the deluxe reissue treatment as a Blu-ray release, complete with extra footage and content.

The gig was notable for several things, not least it being the first gig played after the death of Brian Jones. But the emptying of the box of (partly dead) butterflies and the presence of the Hell’s Angels are perhaps  seem to stick in the mind just as much.

According to Network, which is reissuing the open air gig, the images have been restored in high definition, with the soundtrack remixed in Dolby 5.1. It also now features three previously unseen songs which were filmed at the concert – Mercy, Mercy, Stray Cat Blues and No Expectations. The latter two are incomplete but are included here ‘due to their uniqueness’.

There’s also other extra content, including World in Action : Mick Jagger discusses his arrest for drugs possession, from July 1967 (SD), the Mick Jagger press conference on his release from prison, from 1967 (SD), Rolling Stones news footage of their early fame, from 1964 (SD) and an interview with Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts about their tour of France, from 1971 (SD).

£12 is the price. You can pre-order now or go buy it from this coming Monday.
