New Artist: The Moog-centric... Roger O'Donnell
"To categorize, to compare, to label, is unapologetically human. We are surrounded by images, objects, words, sounds, and smells, constantly changing and moving, and to define in order to make sense of the world around us is a understandably natural and normal reaction...".
And that's how Roger O'Donnell's PR company go about selling their artist. Man, you have to wonder if he knows about this? I nearly didn't write an article about it by virtue of the fact I thought he was gonna be some pretentious bozo (I mean, this is a guy who has played keys in The Thompson Twins, Psychedelic Furs and The Cure). Thankfully, he seems to have been listening to a lot of Tomita, Gershon Kingsley and the like.
Basically, all you need to know, I reckon, that this guy loves his Moog. He makes some poppy tracks with it and gets people to sing over... that's fine... but what makes me tick the most is the drawn out, blissed out Moog tracks, that sound like friendlier Boards of Canada interludes...
