Grandmaster Flash autobiography... cutcutcut faster!
I dunno why people feel the need to say things like "Legendary hip-hop DJ" about Grandmaster Flash. I mean, it's true, but it's also as clear as the nose of Jimmy Nail's face. Flash is The Beatles of hip hop. End.
So anyway, legendary hip hop DJ Grandmaster Flash will be releasing (or 'dropping') his autobiography this week, which chronicles his rise, fall and second coming in hip-hop. The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash: My Life, My Beats will take readers back to the South Bronx in the '70s when hip-hop was but a little biddy thang. NYTimes (bestselling) author David Ritz worked with Flash on the book (he also wrote the biography Divided Soul: The Life of Marvin Gaye, which is great).
Flash, or course, is credited as a pioneer of DJing, scratching and mixing. Last year Flash and his group The Furious Five were the first hip-hop act inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... which is no mean feat. The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash: My Life, My Beats hits shelves today... in the US... but thanks to the internet, you can land a copy easy enough.
