MC5 and Primal Scream to play at Meltdown... together?
The Massive Attack curated Meltdown festival has got a couple more additions to the billing... bands that I suspect may do a tag-team at some point. Primal Scream and the MC5 will both be at this year's Meltdown Festival. If you say it like 'Primal Scream and MC5 will be playing together at this year's Meltdown', you get a completely different thought planted in your head. Clever eh? In saying that, I don't know why I'm playing cat 'n' budgie with you because it's been confirmed already. Both bands will perform a set each at London's Royal Festival Hall on
June 24, before joining up at the end to play a set together.
The three surviving members of the Motor City Five reunited in 2003 after splitting in '72 and have got the help of various vocalists, of which I ain't goin' into here. The Meltdown gig will see Primal Scream showcasing tracks from their forthcoming album 'Beautiful Future', the record is out on July 21, preceded by a single "Can't Go Back" on July 14.
Meltdown runs from June 14-22 will see curators Massive Attack open and close the music, film and arts festival with two speacial headline sets at the prestigious Royal Festival Hall.
