Exhibition of Bob Dylan paintings London
This lady, holding a painting by Bob Dylan, couldn't look less thrilled could she? I mean, she may well dig John Wesley Harding and Freewheelin', but chances are, she's got painters she digs a whole load more. Anyway, that's not the point of this article. So what is the point?
Well, an exhibition of Bob Dylan's art will be on display in London featuring drawings and sketches from the singer's time on the road between 1989 and 1992. The Halcyon Gallery announced Friday that fans will be able to peruse the art starting June 14, at an exhibit called The Drawn Blank Series. A gallery release described the works as invoking feelings of "anonymity, transience, rootlessness and sometimes loneliness." Hey! I get that sometimes!
"This is an incredible opportunity for viewing this powerful body of work, which gives an insight into the artist's soul and which have already been the subject of widespread critical acclaim," the gallery's president Paul Green told BBC News.
The first exhibition of Dylan's work opened in the eastern German city
of Chemnitz last year at the catchily named Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz museum.
The 170 portraits of women and men, still lifes, cityscapes and
landscapes are the same ones to be featured in the British show. Dylan, 110 million sales worldwide, was recently awarded a special Pulitzer Prize for his impact
on popular music and American culture.
He was honoured for his "lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic
power."
Dylan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and the
Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1982. Why am I telling you this? Dunno. I don't think the paintings will be scratching the surface of the acclaim of his music. Still, Dylanites, you've been told. Could be interesting.

The Drawn Blank Series by Bob Dylan can be seen at numerous galleries around the UK on Saturday 14th June. For those Dylan fans who live in the North West of England and don't fancy a trip to London, the exhibition can be seen in it's entirety at Howarth Gallery in Burnley Lancashire throughout the day.
Having seen all the images in the tour, I doubt many Dylan fans will be left disappointed with what they see !
