Brian Wilson signs to Capitol again... and new 'ambitious project' soon

Wilson I know, I know. Brian Wilson, genius that he is, isn't man to trust implicitly. I know I'd like to, but man, he's a tired and frail ol' thing who I wouldn't trust with a bag o' pipe cleaners. Still, that said, he might still have grand toytown psychedelic symphs in his head. Then again, he might not.

Anyway, Bri' burrows deeper into the creative soil with an 'abitious new themed album", dubbed 'That Lucky Old Sun'. The LP is to see release in Autumn and explores "the Southern California culture that he helped define musically in the 1960s as the guiding creative force of the Beach Boys."

To give light to this new thang, Wilson returns to his spiritual (recording) home, notably The Beach Boy's longtime label, Capitol Records. Capitol will release 'That Lucky Old Sun', lukewarm on the heels of his (brilliant) 'SMiLE' LP.

Some record company guy released a statement bigging the whole thing up... but why should we give 'em any air time? Here's a video from 'That Lucky Old Sun' performance in London a while back (who cares what the dates was) and it's a mangle of 'Oxygen To The Brain', 'Can't Wait Too Long', 'Midnight's Another Day' and 'Going Home'.
