One Good Song: Sugarloaf's Green Eyed Lady
Okay. I'm lazy. I couldn't find a decent shot of Sugarloaf's eponymous LP. I couldn't even be bothered to take a picture of my own copy of it. Why would I want to do that? Well, on that album is the wonderful Green Eyed Lady which was a one hitter back in the late sixties or early seventies (who cares when it was right? A great track is a great track... and we've already established I'm too lazy to find stuff out).
The track itself is a proggy pop monster, with wailing guitars and a funky-as-hell bassline. It's also got the finest noise ever featuring heavily... and that's a Hammond B3. The track starts off a little too noodly, but boy-o-boy, when the bassline kicks on, you'll be praising the invention of the stylus! Click here to give it a listen... and I'll apologise for the cruddy nature of the fan-made vidjo.
